About the Measurement for Your New Patio Shades Awning
So you’re buying a brand new SummerSpace® customized outdoor awning from Patio Shades Retractable Awnings. Congratulations! Now it’s time to measure your outdoor space so that we get the right fit.
For proper window awning measurement, be sure to consider all three dimensions: How tall does your awning need to be? How wide? And how far out does it need to extend?
Awning measurements are taken in feet and inches. The height measurement is straightforward, while the width measurement must take into account that the width awning’s fabric will be 5 to 10 inches less than the width between the awning’s two arms.
PatioShades Retractable Awnings offers this suggested sequence of steps for obtaining proper measurements for your awning installation:
1. At the spot where you wish your new awning to go (window, doorway, bay window, storefront, patio entrance, etc.), measure the vertical height of available wallspace. Generally, about 7 feet and 6 inches is needed between the floor and the top of the wall.
2. Measure the horizontal width you wish to have covered by your awning. Be aware of any side railings or other obstructions that would limit how wide your awning can be. Keep in mind that you’re measuring for the width of the fabric; the width of the entire awning apparatus will be a few inches wider.
3. Measure how far out your awning should project. Take into account whether your window cranks outward, or how far your door opens.
Using these three measurements, you are prepared to place your order with PatioShades Retractable Awnings and a step closer to enjoying the comfort of your new window awning or patio shade.
